The book MERAKI, the Journey Within written by Dr. Debjani Gupta was released at a program held recently at the Calcutta Club in the presence of eminent actor Deb Shankar Halder and renowned artist Dipali Bhattacharya. The book has been published by YAPANCHITRA FOUNDATION.

Senior pediatrician Dr. Debjani Gupta practices in Kolkata. She completed her early education at the Loreto Convent School in Ranchi before completing her medical school training in Kolkata and the UK. Although she has written for a number of periodicals and anthologies, this is her first full-length book. She has training in classical dancing in addition to being a practicing pediatrician, and she appreciates all forms of creative art. Along with cooking and baking, she dabbles in painting. Dr. Debjani Gupta, along with her husband and two daughters, resides in Kolkata.

In MERAKI – A Journey Within, some of the amazing events amidst the mundane that has occurred during the past few decades are acknowledged. The journey within’s core is captured in celebrating these moments.

The book’s three sections flow into one another naturally, allowing readers to stop and start reading at their convenience. All of the pages’ illustrations are drawn from the author’s collection of work from the past two years, including charcoal sketches and acrylic paintings.

Dr. Debjani Gupta captured the images for the photo collage on the book’s cover while on one of her regular heritage trips, which she thoroughly likes taking on occasion.
