Delicious Food At The Exclusive Pre-Holi Soirée

As the city prepares to drench itself in the myriad hues of spring, the upscale neighborhood of Sarat Bose Road witnessed an explosion of a different kind—one of culinary innovation and festive warmth. On the afternoon of February 28, host Shweta Goenka, a member of the West Bengal Hotels & Restaurants Council of WICCI, opened her doors for an exclusive Pre-Holi Meet, setting a high bar for this year’s seasonal celebrations.

The event, which commenced at 2 pm, skipped the traditional heavy starters in favor of a refreshing “Tropical Fusion” mocktail. Guests were greeted with an array of assorted chilled beverage cans, providing a crisp reprieve from the burgeoning Kolkata heat before diving into a menu that masterfully bridged the gap between East and West.

The highlight of the afternoon was undoubtedly the creative interpretation of Indian street food. While the Benarsi Tamatar Chaat offered a nostalgic, tangy nod to the ghats of Varanasi, it was flanked by modern counterparts like the Sprouts Basket Chaat and Green Peas Coconut Patties. The savory spread continued to surprise with Pesto Sunflower Bread, Pizza Rollups, and a comforting Cheesy Baked Casserole, proving that Holi flavors in 2026 are as much about global fusion as they are about tradition.

No Holi celebration is complete without indulgence, and Goenka’s dessert table was a testament to sophisticated confectionery. The menu featured Mocha Tres Leches Cake, NolenGur Bhapa Sandesh, and Saffron Thandai Cake.

The gathering served as a vibrant prelude to the main festival, leaving attendees not just with stained hands, but with palates thoroughly inspired by a new era of festive hosting.
