Devi Aur Hero To Be Showcased at 25th Kolkata International Film Festival
Author and filmmaker Aditya Kripalani and his wife Sweta Kripalani has come up with a film titled “Devi Aur Hero”. This will be the third film post the success of their previous films like “Tikli And Laxmi Bomb” and “Totta Pataakaa Item Maal”. The duo has been producing gender equality based films since a few years now. Now Devi and Hero have been selected officially in the upcoming 25th Kolkata International Film Festival under the Asian category of the NETPAC Award.
The film is about Kaali Ghosh, a young woman from rural Bengal who has been made a sex slave in the bachelor’s pad of an industrialist’s son, in suburban Mumbai. Her abuse has led to blackouts everyday, where her mind goes blank and she lands up waking up in strange situations without any memory of how she got there. A therapist, Vikrant Saraswat, seeks help for himself for sex addiction. He is advised to get back to his practice and be watchful of his addiction.
Kaali miraculous escapes her captor, and once she’s found her place in Mumbai, the first thing she does is to seek help for the blackouts. And where does she land up, but at the clinic of the sex addict therapist. Will they be able to forge a relationship that frees them of their inner demons? Or do they both fail to find freedom?
Chitrangada Satarupa, Vikrant Sarawat will be seen in pivotal roles in the film.
The film will be screened on 10th November 2019 at 3:15 pm at Rabindra Sadan, Nandan Film Centre AJC Bose Road.
