Director Debaloy’s Search For Bengali Dracula to be Showcased in Bengali Film Dracula Sir
SVF and actor turned Member of Parliament Mimi Chakraborty recommenced their long association with the upcoming film Dracula Sir. Mimi Chakraborty who was last seen in SVF’s venture Mon Jaane Na, had taken a hiatus to concentrate towards the welfare of the people of her constituency. When she was approached by the makers and director of the film Debaloy Bhattacharya, she was more than happy to step into the shoes of the character Manjari.
Dracula Sir also stars actor Anirban Bhattacharya who will be essaying the namesake character. The film is about a primary school teacher (essayed by Anirban) who has a protruding pair of canine teeth that earns him a nickname Dracula Sir. As destiny pushes him towards becoming the vampire, he has always been referred to he has a story to tell from 1971 that makes his journey a tale of finding love and revenge.
Excited about his latest venture, director Debaloy Bhattacharya (whose last film was Bidaay Byomkesh), said that the film is the search for a Bengali Dracula. The character of Manjari from 1971 drives the narrative silently. The director was a fan of Pupe (a role essayed previously by Mimi) from Gaaner Opare days, and this character of Manjari has a shed of Pupe’s poise.
Dracula Sir produced by SVF and directed by Debaloy Bhattacharya is scheduled to go on floors from January 2020. The film is part of SVF’s 2020 slate.
