DIY Exhibition At ORCHIDS The International School
Students in grades 6 and 7 held their first DIY show at ORCHIDS The International School in Newtown. They showed several crafts they had learned to produce in class over the course of a year. Handmade lotions, desk trash cans, bookmarks, and soaps were among the available goods. All things were put up for sale, and pupils sold their wares to students in higher grades and the faculty.
The kids improved their public speaking and FLP (financial literacy) skills, which are part of the curriculum, in addition to the DIY show. They were responding to the purchasers’ haggling and discounts with assurance. Along with calculating the profit and loss margin of their sales, they also looked at what differentiates one product’s price from another. They were also selling their goods to the clients, demonstrating their proficiency in public speaking.
Dr Paramita Mishra, VP of Academics, ORCHIDS The International School, Kolkata, said, “ It was a great experience to see our students organize a DIY exhibition. I was a buyer and it was a moment of pride for me when the students explained about the product and the price. Activities of this kind will help public speaking abilities and entrepreneurial spirit among these kids”.
