In a ceremony held at the VC’s Secretariat, Sam, a graduate of the Department of Mass Communication (1999–2001 batch), was congratulated by Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant, the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Assam University and Chairman of the Assam University Alumni Association.

As part of the Department of Mass Communication’s “Alumni Speak” series, Sam, a British-Indian film director, producer, and internationally renowned visual effects specialist, returned to his alma mater to give a lecture.

Professor Pant, who spoke at the ceremony, commended Sam’s accomplishments, saying, “Sam is a shining example of Assam University’s global alumni success. Our present students are greatly inspired and proud of their remarkable path from the Mass Communication department to international renown”.

Sam discussed how new technologies are changing media creation, storytelling, and audience interaction in his talk, drawing on his more than 20 years of experience in filmmaking and cutting-edge visual effects. He urged students to embrace innovation and international cooperation and to look beyond conventional career routes.
