Epilepsy Treatments, Removing Social Stigmas Focus Of I-NK Epilepsy Update
Epilepsy is among the common neurological disorders. 70 million people suffer from epilepsy globally while 12 million people are suffering from epilepsy in India.
The inaugural ceremony of I-NK Epilepsy Update was held at The Oberoi Grand.
The I-NK Epilepsy Update was organized in collaboration with the Oxford Team.
Through this medical conference, the expert views of national and international doctors on Epilepsy were highlighted.
Some of the speakers who spoke at the conference included Prof Simon Shorvon, Prof Charles Newton, Prof Arjune Sen, Prof Alak Pandit, Dr. Amit Haldar, Dr. Ashis Datta, Dr. Haseeb Hassan, Dr. David Okai, Prof Rob Brownstone and many others.
The update covered different aspects of the disease like the history of Epilepsy, diagnosis, challenges faced by women with this disease, advancements made in Epilepsy surgery, and many more. Epilepsies of some kinds can be easily treated with proper medications. However, in some cases, the patient might need surgery and neuromodulations.
The speakers also emphasized generating social awareness about Epilepsy, and removing social stigmas so that the gaps in the treatment can be reduced.
Epilepsy can be managed if detected early and treatment is done at the right time. One can lead a healthy life with Epilepsy.
