The UAE’s main airline, Etihad Airlines, arrived in Kolkata as part of its eagerly awaited return to the city. The airline will once more use Abu Dhabi to link Kolkata, India’s financial center, with the rest of the world on a total of seven weekly nonstop flights.

The first flight on the new route, EY256, took off from Abu Dhabi at 1:50 pm local time on March 26 and landed at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Airport at 8:10 pm local time last night.

Passengers were greeted upon arrival in Kolkata with a cake-cutting ceremony and a celebration, which was attended by Etihad and Kolkata Airport Executives.

On March 26, at 9:05 p.m. local time, the returning aircraft, EY257, departed from Kolkata and landed in Abu Dhabi a little after midnight.

The flights will be run using an Airbus A320 aircraft, providing passengers in 8 Business Class seats and 150 Economy seats with Etihad’s award-winning service, convenient flight timings to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, and seamless connections to destinations across the airline’s expanding global network of 67 destinations.

The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facility in Abu Dhabi International Airport is available to Etihad passengers flying from Kolkata to the US. It is the only US immigration preclearance service in the region that enables passengers to clear US immigration while they are still in Abu Dhabi, allowing them to get home more quickly and easily.
