Women Making Waves: Celebrating the Impact of Empowerment was organized at Sorano to honor exceptional women who have been making a mark in society.

This event was organized before the International Women’s Day.

The Chief Guest at the event was Debashis Sen, IAS, Former Additional Chief Secretary and Past CMD HIDCO.

The women who were felicitated include folk artist Dipannita Acharya, Professor and President of New Town Sarbojanin Durgotsav Urmila Sen, Principal of South City International School Shatabdi Bhattacharjee, Director of Sanmarg newspaper Ruchika Gupta, Mithu Monfokira Choudhuri, a multidisciplinary artist and Pritha Chatterjee, a well-known singer.

Speaking at the event, Urmila Sen said “Rome was not built in a day. Similarly, I did not gain success in a day. I had to start from scratch and then achieve what I have achieved. It has been a long and arduous journey for me”.

Dipannita Acharya thanked the organizers for felicitating her and also sang a song at the occasion.

The felicitation of these women served as a testament to the changing power of women’s voices in society.
