Senco Gold & Diamonds have announced an exclusive three-day exhibition HeeRay Manik (which literally means Diamond Gemstone) to honor renowned filmmaker Satyajit Ray’s 100th birthday. Senco Gold & Diamonds is showcasing 28 exclusive pieces of handcrafted jewelry inspired by Ray’s 28 iconic films from April 29, 2022, to May 1, 2022, at Gallery Gold Art Centre in Kolkata.

Satyajit Ray, also known as Manik, was born on May 2, 1921, and is widely regarded as one of the world’s greatest film directors.

The exhibition has on display the exclusive Gossip collection (the silver and costume jewelry brand from Senco Gold & Diamonds) inspired by Ray’s 28 iconic films like Pather Panchali, Aparajito, Jalsaghar, Apur Sansar, Parash Pathar, Teen Kanya, Devi, Mahanagar, Charulata, Kapurush-O-Mahapurush, Nayak, Chiriyakhana, Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne, Aranyer Din Ratri, Pratidwandi, Seemabaddha, Sonar Kella, Jana Aranya, Shatranj Ke Khilari, Joi Baba Felunath, Abhijan, Ghare Baire, Shakha Proshakha, Agantuk, Hirak Rajar Deshe.

Joita Sen, Director–Marketing & Designs has come up with exquisite jewelry designs. Veteran artist Hiran Mitra designed the collection’s ambient art.

Actor Kushal Chakraborty who played ‘Mukul’ in Sonar Kella and actor Siddhartha Chatterjee who played ‘Topshe’ graced the inaugural ceremony of the HeeRay Manik exhibition.

Speaking at the occasion, Kushal Chakraborty said “I remember Satyajit Ray realized that there was no transition scene between Mukul becoming normal from his previous state. So he met me and said whether I will like to shoot the scene. If I agreed, then he will create a set that will cost Rs 20, 000. Imagine such a legendary filmmaker asking a small kid whether he will do the scene. Such was his greatness. This is unparalleled”.

Siddhartha Chatterjee recalled a funny incident after the release of Sonar Kella. He used to live near Basusree cinema hall and he used to go every day to check the houseful boards. Then he will call up Satyajit Ray and give him the updates. And he used to be so excited to hear that. “Now that I think of it, I understand what a great man he was,” said Siddhartha Chatterjee.

Kushal Chakraborty also added “After a shot, he used to say that the shot is excellent but for safety reasons, he will take another shot. However, during that shot, he will rectify the mistakes and then shoot the sequence again. The motivation and inspiration that he gave to the artists even if they were not performing well was a great thing”.

The collection starts from Rs 600 onwards.
