The ninth edition of JN Chandra Anuprerna 2023, a scholarship scheme for Madhyamik achievers from low-income backgrounds, was held by the P. C. Chandra Group, a prominent corporate organization from East India. A ceremony at Maple Banquet, P.C. Chandra Gardens honored 16 jewels from various West Bengal districts, including West Midnapore, Aliporeduar, North & South 24 Parganas, and Howrah.

This scholarship ceremony was graced by award-winning singer Somlata Acharya. She is also a college lecturer by profession and was the guest of honor. Present along with her was Uday Kumar Chandra, Managing Director, P.C. Chandra Jewellers.

Initiated in 2015, “JN Chandra Anuprerna” is Sanskrit for “inspiration” and the P.C. Chandra Group hopes to open opportunities for exceptional students from underprivileged backgrounds through this project. Like every year, JN Chandra Anuprerna 2023 felicitated the winners by giving each of the 16 pupils a gift of Rs. 5,000 each month for two years, totaling Rs. 1,20,000.  

The 16 students who received the scholarship were Raj Roy, Bipra Das, Deep Das, Ashik Ikbal, Rudranil Ghosh, Nasiruddin Molla, Tushar Debnath, Krishnendu Shaw, Prerna Singh, Pratyush Chatterjee, Prantik Ganguli, Sabnam Parvin, Avijit Das, Anubhab Ghosh, Swarnava Bera and Ritujit Karmakar.

Speaking at the event, Somlata said “When I was in school, I did not score so much like you all. I want to congratulate you all. However, you must remember one thing. You achieved great success in this exam. But somewhere in the future, some other exam might not go as you might have expected. Then you must not feel disheartened. Instead, you must carry on with full vigor and try to achieve your dreams. Moreover, you must also engage in extracurricular activities as well. This will keep the body fit. You will be able to handle exams very well”.
