The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) West Bengal Captor organized the 3rd edition of the Auto Dealers WB Town Hall Meeting in Kolkata.

The agenda for the town hall included initiating the 3rd edition of the GST Workshop for the dealer community in the region.

The Hon’ble Principal Secretary, Transport Department, Government of West Bengal, Dr. Saumitra Mohan (IAS), chaired the Town Hall along with other senior government officials and leaders from the FADA central council and representatives of the FADA West Bengal chapter.

Other distinguished guests included Mr. Sanjib Kumar Paik, Asst. Director (Tech), Transport Department, West Bengal, Mr. Jatin Harjai, Partner & Founder, J. Harjai & Associates, Chartered Accountants, Mr. Soham Misra, State Chairperson, FADA, West Bengal and Mr. Saharsh Damani, CEO, FADA.

The conclave comprised of two exclusive acquaintance sessions, each graced by prominent speakers who shed light on various aspects of the auto retail industry.

Session 1: Interactive session with the Dealers in the leadership of members for the West Bengal Government

The first session was initiated to have a detailed discussion focused on the implementation of the New Central Motor Vehicle (CMV) Rules, 1989. The Principal Secretary, Transport Department, Government of West Bengal, detailed out the various aspects of the rules and how they would be helpful to the society and community at large. Besides, he also urged the dealer community to join hands with the state government to educate people around them about the law. Further discussion was made on the implementation of GSR 703(E), issued by MoRTH, for the online application and renewal of trade certificates and extending their validity by five years. Implementation of GSR 901 (E) issued by MoRTH amending Chapter of Central Motor Vehicle Rule 1989 to build a comprehensive regulatory ecosystem for the pre-owned car.

Session 2: Workshop on a better understanding of GST and its implication in the leadership of CA, Mr. Jatin Harjai, Partner & Founder, J. Harjai & Associates 

The second panel focused on the changing regime in the Auto Retail and Goods & Service Tax for the Industry. The discussions revolved around the preparedness, understanding, and efficient execution of GST for the sector and business. In addition, key dos and don’ts for GST and concerns of automobile dealers were discussed.

The FADA West Bengal Town Hall & GST Workshop witnessed over 150 numbers of member participation.
