Future Generali India Insurance Company Limited (FGII) has raised the bar for PRIDE festivities this year by including all community allies, further solidifying its position as a staunch supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community. The company, which has been hosting PRIDE events at each of its Indian offices for the past two years, has gone beyond the confines of the workplace by partnering with the esteemed theater company Tamaasha to provide an exclusive performance of Be-loved, a play about and for the community.

In keeping with its strategic goal of integrating DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) into its corporate culture as an inclusive employer, insurer, and corporate citizen, FGII has teamed up with Humsafar Trust to offer LGBTQIA+ people in Mumbai, Maharashtra, education and skill-building support. It has given a cheque for Rs. 17 lakh to the Humsafar Trust, which will help members of the community improve their employability by offering computer training, English language courses, and other support.

For the past two years, FGII has observed PRIDE month in its offices around India with a range of activities, workshops, and a PRIDE parade as a way to support the local community. This has aided FGII in raising employee knowledge of LGBTQIA+ issues and educating staff members about them to normalize workplace conversations and create a welcoming environment for community members.

The play Be-Loved, which was screened at the Royal Opera House in Mumbai, addressed queer love and companionship through movement, poetry, music, and theater. It also dug into desi stories of love, family, and connection, highlighting the LGBTQIA+ community’s rich cultural contributions. Transgender activist Shreegauri Sawant, Trinetra Haldar, actor, and Karnataka’s first transgender physician, Bani J, an Indian VJ, and actress, were among the notable attendees.

With this initiative, they are forging a path towards a more inclusive and empowered future.
