The story Sadgati by Premchand is among the poignant stories that showcase the oppression that higher caste people did on the lower caste people in India.

Dukhi is from the untouchable Chamar caste. However, his meager existence is made challenging by social forces he is unable to comprehend. His attempt to get the village Brahmin to read his daughter’s wedding horoscope is the central plot point of the narrative.

The background music has been composed by Anup Chowdhury.

The cast consists of Subhankar Ghatak as Dukhiya, Arnob Acharya as Raghuya, Saniya Mondal as Jhuriya, Archan Biswas as Montu, Sudipto Chatterjee as Satyakam, Purabi Chakrabarty as the wife of the Pandit and others.

The major part of the shooting has been done in Purulia and the other parts in Medinipur.

The film will be releasing in September.
