Rabindranath Tagore wrote the cinematic miracle “Kabuliwala,” and Jio Studios and SVF Entertainment came out with the first look of this film. 

In Tagore’s masterwork, Mithun Chakraborty will play Rahmat, a part that resonates strongly with viewers of all ages. This film, produced by SVF Entertainment and made by the visionaries Mahendra Soni, Shrikant Mohta, and Jyoti Deshpande, promises to bring back the affection and feelings that warmed hearts in the past.

In the bustling metropolis of Kolkata in the year 1965, a middle-aged Afghan man named Kabuliwala tells the timeless narrative of Rahmat about his fatherly devotion to a young daughter named Mini. The movie highlights the era that epitomizes warm relationships and the profound value of love that knows no bounds, across both nations and cultures.

After a gap of 66 years, director Suman Ghosh, who previously worked with Mithun Chakraborty on the critically acclaimed “Nobel Chor,” is ready to work her magic once more by bringing this classic to life once more on the Bengali silver screen. In the year 1957, the trailblazing director Tapan Sinha immortalized Tagore’s heartfelt narrative on silver celluloid.

Mithun Chakraborty said, “I anticipate a profoundly emotional journey. The character’s steadfast love and close relationship with Mini generate intense nostalgia and touch all audiences”.

Director Suman Ghosh said, “Drawing inspiration from Tagore’s immortal masterwork, Kabuliwala, our movie pays homage to the 1957 Bengali adaptation, which captivated the hearts of cinephiles through the unforgettable depiction of the protagonist by the renowned Bengali actor, Chhabi Biswas. As Rahmat finds comfort in the small girl’s innocence, invoking poignant memories of his own child, whom he had left in his hometown, our cinematic endeavor will beautifully capture the essence of love and yearning”.

The music will be composed by Indraadip Dasgupta.

The shooting of ‘Kabuliwala’ will start on 1^st August.

It will release on Christmas, 2023.
