The inauguration of organ-specific oncology services, which aim to provide tailored and specialized cancer care across disciplines, was announced by Manipal Hospital in Dhakuria during the summit. To further demonstrate its dedication to patient-centered care, openness, and accessibility, the hospital recently launched a “Free Second Opinion” consultation program for cancer patients.

The “Free Second Opinion” Consultation Initiative for cancer patients at Manipal Hospital in Dhakuria intends to help hundreds of people in Kolkata and the West Bengal districts. This program provides reliable, multidisciplinary oncology care right to patients’ doorsteps, lowering travel and stress while enabling better treatment options. Approximately 25% of cancer patients in the state commute to neighboring metro areas for specialized treatment. By providing prompt, expert-directed consultations in areas with limited access to oncology care, it effectively addresses a significant medical gap. It enables early treatment and more equitable access to cancer care locally.

Modern operating rooms, state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, and interdisciplinary team-based treatment complement the hospital’s oncology center, which provides end-to-end cancer care from radiation and medical oncology to detection and surgery.

One of the most crucial components of the hospital’s plan to establish a multispecialty cancer care facility in Eastern India that offers top-notch treatment to everyone is this milestone.
