Acid attack is suddenly on the rise in recent times in our society. This has become so rampant that not a single day goes without a report coming out in the media about these attacks. Mostly women are the victims in such cases. Keeping this in mind, director Susovan Bhandari has come up with a short film, tentatively titled Burned Love.

The shooting of the short film was in progress at a park in Rajarhat. The Kolkata Mail correspondent caught up with the cast and crew of the film.

The director while speaking about the story said that acid attacks have become so predominant in recent times. Many people think that since they cannot get a person, they will not let that person be with somebody else. Even when they do not trust someone, these things happen. Hence out of rage, jealousy or aggression, they commit this heinous act. However this is not the right step. You may think your ideology is correct but that might not be the case.

The cast of the film consists of Rajib Basu (acted in Zee Bangla serial Premer Phaande), Urmila (acted in films like Agneepath, Hera Pheri), Shreya Das, Abhishek and others.

Urmila who plays the female lead in the short film said “I play a girl who loves a boy very much. However some misunderstanding crops up between them. They decide to meet one day and what happens next is what you will have to watch the film to know. Acid attacks have become so rampant now. However I feel that people should not spoil the life of a person in that way. If there is a problem, one should talk about it and not throw acid on them”.

Rajib knew the director when he was working in the serial Premer Phaande. It was then that the director has mentioned that he will cast him in his next project. The actor said that he was very excited about the project. “I have two shades to my character. Once you see the film, you will come to know about it. The high heat and humidity is driving us all mad. However we sincerely hope that the audience loves the project. It is only then will the hard work pay off” said Rajib.

The film will release in October. The director also has plans of sending the film to short film festivals too.
