Kolkata has a rich literary and musical culture. Bihaan Music will soon release an Urdu ghazal recital album ‘Saaz-E-Ghazal’. It will not only bring out rich Urdu poetry but also soulful Hindustani Classical Music.

The ghazals in the album are penned and recited by Shushant Chattopadhyaya ‘Safeer’ is from Praygaraj(Allahabad). His tribute poem ‘Nazrul’ was released by Chhayanat organization in August 2021 to commemorate the death
anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam.

The music arrangement in the album was done by Somerita
Mallik. She also used raga ‘Udaasi Bhairav’ (composed by Nazrul) and a
Nazrulsangeet ‘Uchatano Mono Ghare Rayna’ in this album.

Eminent sarangi maestro Ustad Roshan Ali Khan came from Patna to play on this album.

This is his first recording in Kolkata after a considerable amount of time.

Ustad Roshan Ali Khan said that this was the first instance that he played for
an album of ghazal recital. He also mentioned that he loved the ghazals
personally and enjoyed playing on the album.

A young talented sarod player from the Senia Bangash
Gharana and a disciple of Pt. Debojyoti Bose, Monit Pal was brought
in.

The recording was done in Studio Vibrations (Kolkata) by recordist Rajen
Bose.
