The premiere of the Bengali film Shibpur took place in the presence of the cast and crew of the film.

A political reporter working for a major daily in Kolkata discovered an intriguing tale about a woman who, in the 1980s, went from being a common housewife to a notorious lady mafia gang leader in Shibpur, where she ruled for many years before going missing in the late 1990s and was never found. After much violence, the district finally experienced stability thanks to an IPS officer who had been recruited by the then-CM to handle the law and order situation. But, the woman has since disappeared. Was she murdered by members of her rival organizations, or was a shady political plot at work? This is the story of the upcoming Bengali film Shibpur.

The movie is directed by Arindam Bhattacharya.

The cast of the film consists of Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Swastika Mukherjee, Mamata Shankar, Susmita Chatterjee, Rajatava Dutta, Kharaj Mukherjee, Sumit Samaddar, Rajatabha Dutta and Akshay Kapoor.

The movie is produced by Sandeep Sarkar & Ajanta Sinha Roy of Indo-Americana Production.

Shibpur can be watched on single screens and multiplexes in Kolkata.
