With great zeal and festive fervor, Guru Nanak Institute of Hotel Management (GNIHM), a JIS Group Educational Initiative, hosted its annual Traditional Cake Mixing Ceremony, “Merry Mixing”, at its campus to welcome in the pleasure and warmth of the Christmas season.

The Annual Cake Decoration Competition, one of GNIHM’s most anticipated student activities, made this year’s celebration even more colorful. Young cooks enthusiastically participated in the competition, showcasing their inventiveness, technical prowess, and inventiveness via their elaborate cake designs. Students have a great opportunity to showcase their culinary skills in a fiercely competitive setting thanks to the competition.

The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Arjuna Awardees Mrs. Santi Mullick and Mr. Debashish Biswas; Prof. (Dr.) Pralay Ganguly,  Principal, GNIHM; Mrs. Indrani Sanyal, HoD, Housekeeping Department, Woodlands Hospital;  the Principal of Khalsa Model School; the Principal of St. Augustine’s Day School, along with members of the senior management of GNIHM, several chefs and culinary artists, prominent food vloggers, and eminent personalities from the hospitality industry. Their attendance greatly enhanced the event and encouraged students to strive for greatness in their field.

The Traditional Merry Mixing Ceremony began after the tournament, bringing the campus to life with joyous celebration. Almonds, raisins, orange and lemon peels, dates, dried apricots, figs, walnuts, cashews, and pistachios were among the wide variety of dry fruits that were ceremoniously mixed with spirits by students, faculty, and staff to mature over the next few weeks and create the ideal foundation for classic Christmas plum cakes.

The event offered students practical exposure to the cultural significance and technical subtleties of festive baking, skillfully fusing tradition with experiential learning. The occasion also demonstrated GNIHM’s dedication to industry integration, practical experience, and academic brilliance, solidifying its standing as one of India’s top institutions for hospitality education.
