At the Hyatt Centric, Ballygunge, the Young Leaders Forum (YLF) was delighted to have renowned actor Vikrant Massey in an engrossing session. Massey, who has gained recognition for his outstanding performances in the entertainment business, inspired the audience with his moving account of his challenges and triumphs.

Vikrant Massey spoke candidly about his humble beginnings and how his upbringing influenced his goals at the occasion. “My family is a typical middle-class one. Being the second child, there were numerous difficulties. When I was about 15 or 16 years old, I recognized that to achieve my goals and support my family, I had to take responsibility for myself. I had always wanted to be an actor, and I met choreographer Shiamak Davar when I was working at a coffee shop. When I got my first TV show at 16, I understood life had better things in store for me,” he said.

He also remembered how he had shot before in Kolkata. “I wish I could come and spend some time in Kolkata. Either I come for work or events, and it is a hectic schedule. I hardly get the chance to go around the city as I like” said Vikrant.

“When I was leaving the TV industry, I was offered a package of Rs 35 lakhs. But I wanted to achieve my goal of working in films, so I gave up that offer and pursued my dreams. God always has better plans for us. I have realized this many times in my life” added the actor.

When questioned whether he would do a film just for money, the actor said “It depends. If it takes less time and if the money is good, I will accept the offer. To be frank, I have done many films just for the money. It might sound philosophical when people say that money cannot buy you happiness. But I have understood this, when you have money, you have confidence. People’s attitudes towards you change considerably. Hence having money is important. But it is not supreme. With the money, you can purchase a house or go on a trip with your family. For fulfilling simple pleasures in life, you need money”.

The occasion was a huge success, offering guests not only a stimulating discussion but also a plethora of information, motivation, and inspiration from a legend in the field.
