Gouri sheds light on current events. One of the key characters in the movie is a pregnant woman with a mental illness.

“I have been saddened from a young age after seeing mentally or physically challenged people on the roads. About ten years ago, I came upon a pregnant woman with mental disabilities living on the streets. I became emotional. At this point, I started thinking about the Gouri narrative. Other characters will highlight the various events in our society in addition to this one,” said the director.
The story of the film has been written by Prosenjit Halder. The screenplay and script are also by the director.

The director also added that the film will show the friendship between Hindus and Muslims. Though that has lessened in recent times, the film will show how the Durga idol is made in the house of a Muslim family. Though many people are displeased with it, it brings about a change in the storyline.
The music director of the film is Pritam Deb. Anupam Roy, Lagnajita Chakraborty, Mekhla Dasgupta, and Sourav Dey have lent their voices to the songs in the film.

The lyrics of the songs were penned by Soham Majumder, Suprotim Dey, and Sourav Dey.
