The highly anticipated Me Gong Festival 2024 is planned to take place in Meghalaya. The Swedish rock band Europe, Gajendra Verma, the Mumbai-based Indian rock group Indus Creed, the Indian pop rock group Euphoria, and the Bollywood actress-turned-DJ Uddita Goswami are among the interesting acts on the festival’s lineup. The venue for this event is the Baljek Airport in Jenjal, West Garo Hills, Tura. This festival, which has as its theme Echoes of Traditions, is anticipated to draw an audience of around 3 lakh people.

The three main components of this two-day festival, which begins on November 29 and 30, 2024, are traditional games and sports events, handloom, handicrafts, culinary exhibitions, cultural performances, and musical showcases. Through several zones, the festival will highlight important facets of Garo customs.

The goal of the Me Gong event is to draw a wide range of people. Additionally, the event provides a stage for local artists, such as Shillong-based folk fusion group Summer Salt and Garo Hills-based rock group Da Suraka.

Additionally, there will be a traditional fashion exhibition including Northeastern handwoven fabrics and tribal attire, with a focus on the Garos.

More than 2.3 lakh people attended the previous editions, which featured performances by well-known bands and musicians including Venga Boys, Armaan Malik, Parikrama, and MLTR (Michael Learns to Rock) in 2022.

The goal of the Me Gong festival in 2024 is to preserve and promote the rich cultural legacy of the Garo people through a great celebration. Above all, Me·Gong 2024 is expected to be a great time for everyone, with both national and international musicians performing and captivating the crowd. It will provide a common platform for residents, visitors, artists, craftspeople, and cultural vultures.
