Great Participation Of Students In 15th Kolkata Regional Brain Bee
Institute of Neurosciences Kolkata (I-NK) in association with the Indian National Brain Bee organized the 15th Kolkata Regional Brain Bee (a Neuroscience contest) for 11th class students of Biology.
Parjukta Chowdhury, from Ballygunge Sikha Sadan (BSS) School Kolkata successfully represented India in the 2023 International Brain Bee World Championship held on 5th August 2023.
The Regional Brain Bee Quiz is a live question-and-answer competition about Neuroscience for 11th-class students. To test their knowledge of the human brain and its activities related to intelligence, memory, emotions, sensations, movements, stress, aging, sleep, and brain illnesses like drug addiction, Alzheimer’s, autism, and stroke, this quiz tournament draws the brightest young minds in India. The Brain Bee Quiz aims to pique the interest of our young people in learning about the brain, spark their curiosity, and encourage them to seek professions in biomedical brain research.
The Brain Bee competition was organized and conducted by Prof. Dr, Hrishikesh Kumar, Head of Neurology, Director of Research, and Vice Chairman, I-NK under the auspices of Prof. R. P. Sengupta, OBE.
The competition was planned and executed by Dr. Supriyo Choudhury, Assistant Director of Research and Research Fellows at I-NK.
A total of 24 students from leading schools with Biology credentials, participated in the event.
The competition had four very educational and knowledge-enhancing rounds. Renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Hrishikesh Kumar administered the test and provided clear explanations of the answers, suitable for high school pupils. Every participant expressed satisfaction with the approach to learning in a lighthearted setting. The players engaged in fierce combat with one another. In general, the kids found the event enjoyable and highly informative.
