Great Plays Showcased At 2nd Edition Of National Theatre Festival
The second edition of the National Theatre Festival Usha Ki Kiran, took place from 26th to 30th June.
The theatre festival was dedicated to the legendary theatre artist Usha Ganguli, and it was recently concluded at the Rangakarmee Studio Theatre. This colorful five-day event, which was put on by Rangakarmee and featured Anirudh Sarkar as the Festival Director, included a rich tapestry of acts honoring the diversity of Indian theater.
Sangeet Natak Academy award-winning actor Amit Banerjee inaugurated the festival.
Path of Truth, a puppet drama by Kolkata’s Doll’s Theatre under the direction and design of Sudip Gupta, was presented as the first act. The next evening, Mrityunjay Prabhakar’s moving Va Manasi, performed by Santiniketan’s Sehar, was on stage.
Theatrical adventure continued with Chand Tanha Aasman Tanha, directed by Punj Prakash, and presented by Dastak Theatre from Patna. On the day before the end, the Treasure Art Association of Delhi presented Endless Night, with direction by Joy Maisnam. Rangakarmee’s production, Abhi Raat Baaki Hai, expertly directed by Souti Chakraborty, brought the festival to a close.
The participation of well-known guests like Tarun Pradhan, Badal Das, Tripty Mitra, and Anshuman Bhowmick enhanced the festival’s allure.
Rangakarmee celebrated the vitality and inventiveness that characterize Indian theater while also paying tribute to Usha Ganguli’s lasting impact through this festival. “Usha Ki Kiran” was a remarkable homage to one of the theater’s most beloved characters because of the variety of performances and the esteemed attendees.
