In September, the country commemorated Gynecological Cancer Awareness Month. In light of this, an inspiring Survivors’ Meet was held at Manipal Hospital, EM Bypass.

The theme this year was#GOAganistStigma. It focused on the broader efforts to combat gynaecological cancers.

Dr. Arunava Roy, Senior Consultant, Unit Head of the Department of Gynaecologic Oncology & Women Cancer Initiative, and Robotic Surgery Specialist and Trainer, Manipal Hospital, EM Bypass, Dr. Neha Agarwal, Consultant, Gynaecologic Onco-Surgery, Manipal Hospital, EM Bypass, and Dr. Arunashis Mallick, Consultant, Gynaecologic Onco-Surgery, Manipal Hospital, EM Bypass, and others graced the meet.

During the meeting, they dispelled common misconceptions, gave important information, and discussed early warning symptoms of gynecological cancer. Approximately twenty-five cancer survivors spoke up to share their motivational stories. From describing the signs of various diseases to comprehending the nuances of their therapy for general well-being, the event and interactive session led participants through clinically oriented subjects.

Dr. Arunava Roy said, “This year, we’re working to remove the anxiety and uncertainty that patients typically experience by providing rapid and simple testing for everyone, regardless of age, exhibiting symptoms of gynecological cancer. In order to cure cancer patients, we at Manipal Hospitals Kolkata are currently concentrating more on robotic and laparoscopic treatments. Our goal is not only to provide efficient therapy, but also to enable patients to recuperate quickly and resume their loved lives. The idea that receiving a cancer diagnosis is a death sentence is something our team continues to dispel. With routine screening, prompt intervention, and compassionate care, cancer can be highly curable with early detection. Our staff of committed experts is available around-the-clock to answer any queries and guide patients and their families through the entire process”.

Dr. Roy added, “We should all work to raise awareness of gynecologic cancer. We must educate ourselves and our loved ones about the value of routine screenings and checkups. In addition to significantly increasing survival chances, early identification improves patients’ quality of life by giving them courage, hope, and the chance to fully enjoy life. To ensure that no one has to endure cancer alone, we must be dedicated to enhancing prevention, care, and treatment”.

The meeting ended on a positive note with tips from the doctors and inspiring stories from the survivors.
