HCCB Installed A Solar Power Plant At Its Factory In Goa
Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) announced that it has installed a solar power plant at its factory in the Verna Industrial Estate, Goa.
The 500kw solar power plant is the first by HCCB in Goa and will power 20% of the factory’s total electricity consumption.
Ramkrishna Dhavalikar, Minister for Power, New and Renewable energy, and Housing- Govt. Of Goa inaugurated the plant. The event was also graced by Mr. M.K. Mujar, Executive Electrical Engineer, Goa Electricity Department, Mr. Gauresh Kotankar, Senior Engineer, Goa Energy Development Agency, and Mr. Gabriel Fernandes, Sarpanch, Nagoa Village Panchayat.
Four inverters and 1700 roof-mounted solar panels make up the solar power plant. It will make it possible for the factory to help HCCB achieve its objective of lowering carbon emissions and turning carbon neutral within the next 25 years. The factory will reduce its annual carbon dioxide emissions by 395 tonnes thanks to this plant.
By using these sources for 54% of its energy needs, HCCB has increased its capacity for clean and renewable energy throughout the years and is able to offset more than 76,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year. To adopt renewable energy throughout its operations, the firm has used a range of strategies. This includes adopting energy-efficient technology and gradually replacing conventional light bulbs and sources with LED lights in its factories. It also includes the installation of solar rooftops for on-site power generation and Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) for sourcing wind and solar power through various state grids.
