In the august presence of Dr BS Ajaikumar, Chairman & CEO, HCG Enterprises Ltd, Dr SK Sharma, CMD, EKO Diagnostic Pvt Ltd and Mr Dinesh Madhavan, Director-Healthcare Services, HCG Enterprises Ltd, HCG-The Specialist in Cancer Care launched their 23^rd comprehensive cancer centre in India.

The cancer centre offers cutting edge procedures like Re-radiation, Total body irradiation, Radiosurgery, Iodine therapy, Bone marrow transplant under the expertise of board of certified clinicians.

Programs like Preventive oncology, screening and awareness have been introduced so that proactive measures can be taken in order to reduce the onslaught of cancer.

Cervical cancer has reduced to a great extent in urban India due to increase in knowledge about hygiene among the masses. But that needs to be done even in the rural areas too. So the centre has come up with a vaccine which can be taken one time and the effect of which will last for about 15 years. The charge is about four thousand rupees. A booster dose can be given to the individual after 15 years.

The team of specialists at the cancer centre comprises of Dr Ayan basu, HOD Radiation Oncology, Dr Joydeep Chakrabartty, HOD-Haemato Oncology, Dr Rahul Kumar Chaudhury-Surgical Oncology and Dr Arunava Halder- Nuclear Medicine Department.

One of the most highlighting features about the centre is that it focuses on the preventive aspects of cancer too. Making a few lifestyle changes like not consuming tobacco or not smoking can go a long way in fighting cancer.
