On the occasion of Rabindra Jayanti, Hoichoi announced its upcoming Original- Manbhanjan by Tagore.

Present at the occasion was Sohini Sarkar, Anirban Bhattacharya and Abhijit Chowdhury.

The teaser of Manbhanjan was also shown at the press meet.

The story is about Giribala, a housewife who leads a lonely life at the home of the in-laws. Giribala and her husband Gopinath had a loving relationship before. But now Gopinath fell out of love and started seeing theatre actress Labanga. Giribala leaves the house after Gopinath escapes with Labanga. What happens next?

Sohini Sarkar plays Giribala in Manbhanjan. “We all have an inner Giribala. Maybe we can take decisions like her sometimes. And sometimes we cannot take decisions like her. However characters like her will be present in the world till the day human race will exist on Earth. The character was challenging and it was a great opportunity to portray such a character” said the actress.

Anirban Bhattacharya who had acted in another Hoichoi Original, Laboratory (based on a Tagore story) was excited to work in another Hoichoi film based on a story by Tagore. “The film shows two important things- Babu-culture and the rise of the revolution against the British. Gopinath embodies the Babu-culture and it has been a pleasure to portray such a character. This is simply because such things are not found in our society” said the actor.

Manbhanjan will begin streaming from 31^st May.
