“For portraying Alisha, I had to delve into the past relationships that I had. Some of them were not-so-good experiences and I took those experiences to portray this character on screen. This is not an easy character to portray” said Deepika Padukone at the trailer launch of Amazon Original Movie, Gehraiyaan.

Alisha Khanna is a 30-year-old ambitious woman. She finds herself at a crossroads in life as her six-year-long relationship has grown monotonous, and her career seems to be hitting a lot of roadblocks. She had begun to accept this reality as unchangeable, when her life is usurped by the arrival of her cousin, Tia, and her fiancé, Zain. She bonds with Zain over a troubled past and a common wish to break from its confines. The story charts the journey of Alisha and Zain, as they confront the ghost of their past on the path they take to avoid it.

Directed by the very talented Shakun Batra, Gehraiyaan is a relationship drama that looks beneath the surface of complex modern relationships, adulting, letting go, and taking control of ones’ life path.

The film features Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday, Dhairya Karwa, Naseeruddin Shah, and Rajat Kapur in pivotal roles.

Speaking about the film, Deepika Padukone said that Alisha is extremely close to her heart and one of the most challenging characters she has portrayed on screen. She was grateful to have had the opportunity to play a role that was fun and challenging at the same time.

Siddhant Chaturvedi said that this was coming back home as he had started his journey as an actor with Amazon Prime Video. And now Gehraiyaan will premiere worldwide on Amazon Prime Video. The actor also felt that there is a little bit of Zain in all of us. His ambition, aspiration, passion for his dreams, and his struggles when faced with tough choices are all extremely relatable.

Ananya Panday said that shooting with the wonderful cast and crew of Gehraiyaan has been an absolute high point for her.  Tia has been one of her favorite characters to play.

Shakun Batra said that the film will not show adultery. Rather it will show that relationships are not black and white. It is more in the gray area. This will be highlighted in the film. Relationships are complex and the film will show that aspect of relationships.

Jointly produced by Viacom18 Studios, Dharma Productions, and Shakun Batra’s Jouska Films, the movie will have its World Premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on February 11, 2022, in more than240 countries and territories worldwide.
