Chandreyee Ghosh is well known for her works in the Bengali film and television industry. Her acting skills have earned her a steady fan base over the years. Be it negative or positive characters, the actress has shown her acting capabilities to the fullest in every character. The Kolkata mail correspondent Priyanka Dutta caught up with the actress in an exclusive telephonic chat over her new works. Excerpts..

You have worked in both positive and negative roles. Are you satisfied with the kind of roles that you have received over the years?

Chandreyee Ghosh- Well, I am lucky and feel blessed that I have got such amazing roles over the years. I have no complaints at all. Be it an evil character or an extremely positive character- I have done them all. I love decking up for the roles that I play. And if the director wants me to simply come to the shoot without any makeup on, I can do that too. The roles become important to me.

You will be seen in the horror film Rish. What is your role in the film?

Chandreyee Ghosh- I will be playing a nun in the film. Whether I am a human or a ghost, I will not reveal now. Let the audience watch the film to know about it. However, I had a great time shooting the film. We shot at the church and I got to know so much about the rituals followed at the church. It was a great learning process.

Do you believe in ghosts? What is your favorite horror film?

Chandreyee Ghosh- I love watching horror films. I believe that ghosts are nothing but souls. So if you believe in souls, you believe in ghosts. There are so many horror films that I like. I will say that Shining is my favorite as I have watched it so many times.

You will be seen in the web series Mukti. What is your role in the series?

Chandreyee Ghosh- I will be seen in the role of a courtesan (Baiji) in the series. There is a song featuring me. The entire atmosphere is that of the courtesan’s place has been captured well in this song. People will love the series.

After working in films, web series, and television, which medium do you prefer now?

Chandreyee Ghosh– I have worked in television for such a long time and it has given me so much. Hence, it has a constant place in my heart.

However, you can explore so much more in films and web series. There is a beginning and an end to a character. But that is not the case with television works.

Tell us something about your upcoming projects.

Chandreyee Ghosh- There are quite a few projects in the pipeline. I will be beginning the shoot of Montu Pilot 2 in February.

With partial lockdowns again happening due to the ongoing pandemic, how do you keep yourself motivated?

Chandreyee Ghosh- I no longer want to think about it and waste my time and energy. I have thought enough about this. Instead, I will pursue and continue to do the jobs that I like. We all have to accept that these lockdowns are now a part of our lives. It is by accepting that we can live peacefully.
