On October 10th, Anush Agarwalla, a budding international equestrian sensation who recently won a historic gold medal in the 2023 Asian Games, was felicitated. Anush’s tremendous talent and devotion to the equestrian sport are honored at this ceremony, which also commemorates his outstanding performance at the Asian Games when he helped India win a gold medal.

Anush’s journey from a teenage equestrian riding enthusiast at Kolkata’s Tollygunge Club to an international superstar has been nothing short of inspiring. Early on, he developed a love for equestrian sports, and he cultivated his ambition to compete for India on major stages like the Asian Games and the Olympics.

Anush relocated to New Delhi at the age of 11 and continued his schooling at La Martiniere for Boys to pursue his dreams. Early results of his dedication included silver and gold prizes at the prestigious Delhi Horse Show in 2014. He traveled to Germany at the age of 16, where he trained under the direction of Mr. Hubertus Schmidt, an Olympic gold medallist. Anush’s relentless perseverance allowed him to qualify for the World Equestrian Championships and become India’s youngest Grand Prix rider.

Mr. Hubertus Schmidt, his trainer, said that Anush did a commendable job with the young horse Etro.

Anush Agarwalla overcame the pandemic and other obstacles to continue, win at the S-Level and become the first Indian rider to qualify for the 2022 World Games in Herning, Copenhagen.

Anush Agarwalla received a personal appreciation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 10 for his outstanding performance in equestrian sports. This celebration highlighted Anush’s commitment and the honor he has brought to the country.

The life of Anush Agarwalla is a testament to unyielding resolve, tenacity, and the unrelenting pursuit of perfection. Anush sees each milestone as a step closer to reinventing the history of Indian equestrian sports as he looks ahead to potential challenges, such as the 2024 Olympics.
