Actor Ankit Mohan has made a name for himself with his acting. The actor is currently seen in the serial Haivaan. The Kolkata Mail correspondent Priyanka Dutta caught up with the talented actor in an exclusive chat about his works. Excerpts..

Have you always wanted to be an actor? How did you enter the world of acting?

Ankit Mohan- I never ever wanted to become an actor. I belong to a business background and a cute joint family in Delhi. I love my family. I am a family oriented person but I guess destiny wanted something else out of me, and that’s how they planned all the struggle of my life in different city away from my family. So when destiny pushed me away from my family, I started struggling of my own, surviving of my own, then I realized that this is the chosen path where I have to work on. I just to have a little focus walk ahead and see what is all there in the box for me.

You are currently acting in Haivaan. What role do you play in the serial?

Ankit Mohan- I am playing the lead of the serial.

You have worked in different mediums-television, films and now web-series. Which one do you feel the most comfortable to work in?

Ankit Mohan- See television is too tough because you get the script on the very same day. The moment you reach the set, you get the script, no matter how many scenes you have, one, two or five. I think every medium has different preparation, like in the film you have time before the film starts like pre you can say where you can sit and make the schedule and decide the timings or how many scenes you are going to shoot in a day .Web series have different procedure .So every medium has a different way of work and I am lucky enough to worked on all three of them.

Can you shed some light on your characters in the two Marathi films that you are doing?

Ankit Mohan- First was Farzand. It is a historical film. Second was Fatehshikast where I play Yesaji Kank. That is also historical. Third, which is releasing on 6th of March ‘Mann Fakira’ is a romantic film about today’s generation. Another film that I will be shooting is Jung Johar.  That is again a historical film. So for now only historical films are happening much than the other normal roles. I love action films to be very honest.

How did you bag the role of working in the Marathi films?

Ankit Mohan- I had never thought that I will be the part of any other language film or other language work whether it is a serial or a film. But my wife has worked with Digpal in a show. Digpal use to come home so that is how we met and for a good long time he observed me.  I could not really say that he observed me for Farzand but he observed me as a person. One day later he realized that my madness would match and give justice to the role. So that’s how he told me on one fine day, why don’t you play Farsand and that came as a surprise to me but he asked me to trust him. Then I realized if the other person is showing trust in me, I should repay the trust and I should work for him. I should give it hard and that’s how I realized I should also do it.

You have also acted in Marathi web-series Ek Thi Begum. What is your role in the series?

Ankit Mohan- I am playing a Don, who is a good don. It’s very different from all the characters that I have played so far and the journey of that character was very beautiful. There was a song on me in the web series and this guy is shown very mature and his name is Zaheer. That character dies after a couple of episodes but he is throughout there. That’s how his wife takes the revenge for his death. I love my look in the web series.

Had you not become an actor, what would you become?

Ankit Mohan- I would be a Businessman.

As an actor, juggling your hectic work schedules is often a taxing job. In such a situation, how do you take care of your fitness? What do you do to keep your body fit?

Ankit Mohan- If I do not go to the gym I get down on the road and I start running. I do free hand work out. If I am getting 10 to 15 minutes, I just don’t waste my time on anything.

For example- Today in the morning I got up around 6:30 and I did the weapon training and then I went to the archery training. Whenever I get some time in between I will quickly hit the gym and then again I will start my work.

You are doing quite a lot of work in Marathi industry. How different is it from the Hindi industry that you have worked in?

Ankit Mohan- The only difference is the language and of course two have different process like story wise, content wise and I think Hindi is more glamorous and have more good songs. In Marathi there are contents which connect to your emotions, beautiful stories that touch your hearts. I guess I am lucky enough to have worked in both. In Hindi I did a film called Mausam with Shahid Kapoor long back and in Marathi I am doing such historical films and different films. So I guess it’s on you how you take it.

Do we get to see you in more Bollywood films in the future?

Ankit Mohan- I guess so. If I ever get a call from Dharma or Yashraj then I would just go and rush and find the agreement and go to shoot directly. I really wish that happens.

Do you have any dream role?

Ankit Mohan- Yes I have a dream role. I want to play the role that Amit sir had played in Agneepath or what Hrithik played in Agneepath and I want to be the third one who will do that role and I will do justice to both of them.

What kind of role appeals to you more?

Ankit Mohan- More of an intense or action oriented role is what appeals to me.

Who are your favourite actor and actress?

Ankit Mohan- Of course being growing up seeing Shahrukh Khan all the time, I love his aura. He has reached so far and the name he has made that’s unbreakable. If I go for the personality or the look, I would love to mention Hrithik Roshan. I like all the actresses.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

Ankit Mohan- Now we are talking about other actors. I believe you sit with the other actors and they talk about me.
