“I Want To Be A Part Of Socially Relevant Films As That Gives More Satisfaction”- Akshay Kumar
After touring Dubai, Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Indore, the team of the upcoming Bollywood film ‘Raksha Bandhan’ including Akshay Kumar, Director & Producer Aanand L Rai, and the cast including Sadia Khateeb, Smrithi Srikanth, Sahejmeen Kaur, and Deepika Khanna visited Kolkata.
The story revolves around Lal Kedarnath who is the eldest brother of four younger sisters. He promises his mother on her deathbed that he will get married after marrying off his sisters. As a result, his personal life is in turmoil. Can Lala fulfill his mother’s wishes and marry off his sisters while upholding family values? This is what the film Raksha Bandhan is all about.
“The film shows many aspects of the society like dowry and others. Raksha Bandhan is not trying to give any message. We are just showing the problems and giving a solution in our own small way. Even if one family does not take dowry after seeing the film, I feel that our mission will be served” said Akshay Kumar.
The team also visited Delhi Public School while in Kolkata. They arrived at the school and engaged the students in conversation about the movie.
Directed by Aanand L Rai, the film is produced by Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma in association with Zee Studios, Alka Hiranandani, and Cape of Good Films.
“This is a film made from the heart. One can watch the film with their family. The audience will feel more attached to their family after watching the film. You will feel more attached” said Akshay Kumar.
Akshay Kumar shared that his on-screen sisters, the director, and he himself loved to gorge on different kinds of food during the film’s shoot. This was a common factor among them.
While speaking about the bond with his real sister, the actor said “My fondest memory is when she was born. I was only four years old but I still remember that day. My parents said that a Devi (goddess) was born in our home and I still remember that. She lives now in the same building as me. And we share an amazing bond”.
The director said, “We had a great time shooting the film. I wish the audience comes to the hall and watch the film. I know that they will also have an equally good time watching the film”.
It is written by Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dhillon.
On his association with the director, Akshay Kumar said “He is a real-life magician and I can openly say that this is the best film of my career”.
The director when asked about his experience of working with Akshay Kumar said “I did not feel like I was making a film with Akshay. I felt that this was part of life’s process. I even told Akshay that if life was so beautiful, then I can make more good films”.
Speaking about his fitness mantra, the actor said “Be happy, read jokes and share jokes. Laugh more and you will be fit. This has been proven scientifically that if you are happy, you will be fit”.
The music of ‘Raksha Bandhan’ has been composed by Himesh Reshammiya and the lyrics are by Irshad Kamil.
Speaking about his Kolkata connection, Akshay Kumar said “I worked for two years in the city and I have fond memories. I have watched many films at the Globe cinema. I was saddened to hear that it was no longer there. During my stay here, I made a good friend Anil Punjabi. We lost touch but we met a few years ago. Kolkata is a special place always”.
Raksha Bandhan stars Bhumi Pednekar, Akshay Kumar, Neeraj Sood, Seema Pahwa, Sadia Khateeb, Abhilash Thapliyal, Deepika Khanna, Smrithi Srikanth, and Sahejmeen Kaur in pivotal roles.
Raksha Bandhan is all set to release on 11th August 2022.
