“I Want To Create An Amazing Body Of Work”-Dev
“My main aim as an actor is to act in such roles that people will remember me for a long time. It will also be nearly impossible for the next generation of actors to cross that amazing body of work. This is what I have been aiming for. And I hope that I can achieve that. Working in Tekka is a step towards that direction” said Dev at the trailer launch of Tekka.
Also gracing the occasion were director Srijit Mukherji, Paran Bandopadhyay, Sreeja Dutta, Swastika Mukherjee, Rukmini Maitra, music composer Ranajoy Bhattacharjee and others.
Tekka is about Iqlakh (Dev) who is a janitor by profession. He takes a great step of taking hostage a child in a high-rise building when he loses his job. His desperation catches the eye of ACP Maya (Rukmini Maitra). She is an expert negotiator who is brought in to resolve the grave situation. Ira (Swastika Mukherjee) is the mother of the kidnapped kid. It also shows two young journalists Brishti and Tintin (Sreeja Dutta and Aryann Bhowmik) who are caught in the middle of this 48-hour hostage crisis.
Rukmini Maitra said “Unless there are ups and downs in your career, you do not learn or grow. And I have loved experimenting with roles and challenges that motivate me. This role was very challenging and different from the ones I have played before. The director said I had to let go of my feminine walk and walk more like a man. There were other changes required for portraying Maya. But I loved it. I hope that the audience loves it too”.
Dev said, “The film has a wonderful cast and after you watch the film, you will learn what Tekka is all about. I have always told stories that need to be told. It may be a Challenge or a Tonic or even a Tekka”.
Paran Bandopadhyay said that due to Srijit Mukherji’s repeated requests, he had to agree to Tekka. “Srijit is a friend. But the way he asked me to do the film was like a child asking his parents. I could not say no. I will be seen in a different character and hopefully, people will love it” said the actor.
“I have played different kinds of mothers in films and web series. I can write a book on the different kinds of mothers I have played in the web series and films. But this has been a different experience for me” said Swastika Mukherjee.
Srijit added that when a director has a great cast, half of the director’s work is done.
The film is produced by Gurupada Adhikari and Dev.
Sujan Mukherjee, Tota Roy Chowdhury, and others will also be seen in vital roles in the film.
The story and screenplay of the film is by Bhaskar Chattopadhyay.
Tekka releases on the 8th of October.
