Rajatava Dutta will be seen in a pivotal role in the soon to release Bengali film Din Ratrir Golpo. The Kolkata Mail correspondent Priyanka Dutta caught up with the talented actor in an exclusive chat about the new film. Excerpts..

What made you say yes to the film?

Rajatava Dutta- The script was the main aspect that made me say yes to the film. When I met the director, I asked him to tell the story in two lines. When I heard the story, I was impressed and I agreed to the film. I think any actor will like to do a film with such an impressive story line.

The film has been well received at the Kolkata Film Festival. What expectations do you have from the film?

Rajatava Dutta- The film is chosen by a jury which consists of eminent people. But when the people come down in huge numbers to the hall and watch the film, this is in itself a huge achievement. It means that they have loved and liked some aspect of the film. Hence I am hopeful that the film will be well liked by the people.

How was the experience of working with a relatively new director?

Rajatava Dutta- He is one film old. The makers were confident that the film will be liked both by the critics and also by the audience. The film will appeal to a wider audience and not to a selective audience.

What challenges did you have to face while working in a limited budget?

Rajatava Dutta- I will not be able to say much about the budget part but I feel that the director and producer have given in their best to make a beautiful film. I have heard that they worked on eight months for the VFX. So you can understand that they have put in a lot of effort and hard work.

What are your next projects?

Rajatava Dutta- I am shooting for Mayakumari by Arindam Sil. Tonic, Antardhaan is looking for release.
