“I Wish The Films On My Novels Did Well At The Box Office”- Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay at Launch of Pagla Sahib’s Grave
Starmark organized the launch of the graphic novel in English Pagla Sahib’s Grave. The graphic novel is based on Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay’s Bengali novel Pagla Saheber Kabar.
The book launch was graced by Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay, Harsho Mohan Chattoraj and Gautam Jatia, CEO, Starmark.
The illustrations of the book are by Harsho Mohan Chattoraj. The script is by Shuvorup Bhattacharjee and the text/editing is by Arundhati Gupta.
The story of the novel is about Horibondhu who runs away from home to Motigunj for admission to a new school as he fails repeatedly in the examinations at school. At his new residence Kusumkunj, he finds himself surrounded by strange people. From the very first day at school, he encounters a series of violent incidents and mysterious happenings. Among this, Pagla Sahib looms large as the prime haunting personality. Does Horibondhu get to meet him?
Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay revealed that he was a naughty child from his childhood days. He also mentioned the fact that his father had a transferable job and hence many characters in his stories are inspired from real life characters that he met during these times.
The author also revealed that the rights of this story of Pagla Saheber Kabar have been purchased by a film producing company. However he also hoped that the films made on his novels fared better at the box office.
Published by Starmark, the graphic novel is priced at Rs 249.
