Indian Chamber of Commerce organized the book launch on disaster management titled ‘Are You Prepared for a Disaster?’ The book is authored by Ms. Rajni Sekhri Sibal, Secretary, Dept. of Fisheries.

The author along with Mayank Jalan and Rajeev Singh graced the occasion and also unveiled the book.

The book gives extensive and detailed information about how one can prepare them to handle disasters. It contains case studies and also firsthand experiences of the author when she went to various disaster prone places.

Speaking at the event, the author said “Preparing the people for disasters is very important. People die more from anxiety than from the real disaster itself. People should be made aware about how to conduct themselves in such perilous situations”.

For example if you are stuck somewhere where there is a fire raging, put a wet cloth on your nose. This will reduce the harmful air to enter your nose and not cause deterioration of your health. Help will arrive eventually and you will be saved from the disaster.

The author interacted with the audience and threw light on how disaster management should be inculcated among the young generation also so as to make them disaster ready.
