Speaking at the event, Mr. Babul Supriyo emphasized the state’s remarkable advancements, pointing out that West Bengal’s IT industry is undergoing a dramatic change thanks to wise investments, strong infrastructure, and legislative support for digital development. With exports increasing from Rs 4,500 crores in 2011 to almost Rs 35,000 crores today, West Bengal’s IT sector has seen a remarkable transformation, indicating the state government’s persistent efforts and strategic intent. With all of the land parcels allocated, 42 companies are on board, 19 have started construction, and 3 are fully operational. The 250-acre Bengal Silicon Valley project is a flagship project. This demonstrated their serious commitment to IT infrastructure by offering land at Rs 5 crores per acre, which is now worth ₹40 crores per acre, compared to the market value of Rs 25 crores.

Mr. Arvind Kumar referred to India’s rapid advancement in artificial intelligence as the country’s third major technological wave. He underlined that the nation is supporting about 2,000 tech startups, 42% of which are led by women and many of which are based in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, through national initiatives like the National AI Mission and 24 Centers of Entrepreneurship throughout India, including five deep-tech STPI centers in West Bengal. Over Rs 20 lakh crore is currently generated by India’s IT and ITeS industries.
