“Cinema and sports especially cricket unify India. When you love a player, you do not check his/her language or religion. You just love the player for his or her performance. Similarly, if you admire an actor or actress, you do so for the person’s performance and not for the language the actor or actress speaks” said Ayushmann Khurrana at the launch of a special promo of Anek at Miraj Cinemas.

Ayushmann will be seen in the role of Aman aka Joshua. “This is a very important film keeping in mind the scenario of today’s times. This is a political thriller. There is a message of unifying the film. It also speaks about the language issue in India” said the actor.

The upcoming Bollywood film Anek is the tale of an undercover cop who is on a mission for restoring peace in the North-eastern region of India.

“As an artist, you have a social responsibility. And whenever I have done films of Anubhav Sinha, I have been empathetic towards the story” added the actor.

Speaking about the language issue, the actor said “Diversity in India is what is unique about our country. Expecting every Indian to speak Hindi is a bit unfair. Suppose a person has never spoken Hindi throughout his entire life. He cannot start speaking Hindi suddenly”.

According to the actor, North-East has been represented correctly in the film. Indian cinema has aged with this film. 80 percent of the cast are from the North-East. Andrea is the female lead of the film and she has an important role in the film.

The cast of the film consists of Ayushmann Khurrana, Kumud Mishra, Andrea Kevichusa, Manoj Pahwa, and J. D. Chakravarthy.

“There is no dearth of subjects in India and I will like to do thought-provoking films again. We have so much diversity in our country and hence there are a lot of subjects to make films on” added the handsome actor with a smile.

The film will release on 27^th May.
