The Symbiosis Artificial Intelligence Institute, SAII, a ground-breaking project billed as India’s first institute exclusively focused on AI, was announced by Symbiosis International (Deemed University). By incorporating state-of-the-art artificial intelligence into research and academic programs, SAII is positioned to influence the direction of intelligent learning in the future and equip students to take the lead in a technologically advanced society.

To ensure that students acquire a thorough understanding of the technologies reshaping our future, the institute will provide specialised programs in artificial intelligence (AI) and related fields, from robotics and neural networks to machine learning and data science.

The programs offered are:

B.Sc. (Artificial Intelligence) Honours/Honours with Research

The curriculum, which emphasises application-oriented learning and covers important fields like health sciences, agriculture, cybersecurity, data science, and sports sciences, equips students to use AI to solve real-world problems. The curriculum places a strong emphasis on moral and responsible AI, making sure that graduates are aware of how it affects society. To develop industry-specific AI expertise, students can also specialise in fields like Financial Technologies, Marketing Technologies, Global Supply Chain, Human Resource Technologies, and Media and Creative Industries.

B.B.A. (Artificial Intelligence) Honours/Honours with Research

Students learn how to use AI tools to solve business problems, improve operational efficiency, and promote data-informed decision-making through a hands-on, industry-focused curriculum. While minors in Health Sciences, Sports Sciences, Agriculture, Data Science, and Cybersecurity provide additional domain insights, specialisations in Financial Technologies, Marketing Technologies, Global Supply Chain, Human Resource Technologies, and Media and Creative Industries enable focused expertise.

The curriculum is unique in that it allows majors and minors to be combined across programs. A B.B.A. student majoring in Marketing Technology may add a Data-Science minor from the B.Sc. offerings, while a B.Sc. student majoring in Health-Sciences AI may select a FinTech minor from the B.B.A. stream. This ecosystem of mix and match guarantees that students gain both interdisciplinary breadth and technical depth.

Each program’s structure, which consists of a “three-year core plus optional fourth-year Honours or Honours with Research,” allows for a smooth transition from fundamental concepts to more complex specialisations. Students will work in SAII’s cutting-edge AI super-lab throughout their studies, which is furnished with high-performance GPUs, an extended reality studio, and a data-visualization arena.

With the help of interdisciplinary learning, industry projects, and mentorship that fosters innovation and equips them for global careers or further study in the AI ecosystem, graduates of Symbiosis Artificial Intelligence Institute, or SAII, are prepared for a variety of roles, such as AI business analyst, digital transformation consultant, date-driven marketing specialist, product manager (AI-enabled platforms), operations and process automation manager, tech strategy analyst, business intelligence analyst & innovation, and technology manager positions.

Applications are accepted from all academic streams, including science, commerce, and the arts, as long as they have completed Class XII with at least a 50% aggregate, or 45% for SC/ST candidates. The course is taught in a non-residential setting.

The institute’s website is currently accepting applications for the first cohort. By May 30, 2025, prospective students must register online for either program. On June 4, 2025, the names of the qualified applicants who have been shortlisted for in-person interviews will be announced. From June 5 to June 8, 2025, slots will be reserved for the online PI for B.Sc. AI/B.B.A. AI, and on June 19, 2025, the final merit list will be released.
