Actor Rajib Biswas will be seen in director Indranil Banerjee’s next short film titled Hello. The Kolkata Mail correspondent caught up with the actor in an exclusive chat about his experiences of working in the short film. Excerpts…

How did you bag the role in the short film Hello?

Rajib Biswas- I had worked with Indranil before in a tele-film. He approached me next to do this short film. After listening to the script, I was very interested to do this film. This is a psychological sci-fi thriller film. Bengali filmmakers are doing different types of films. So this is a good time to experiment and do new kinds of films. And hence when I was approached to do this film, I immediately said yes.

How was the shooting experience?

Rajib Biswas- We shot the film on a Sunday. We shot for nine hours continuously. We just had a dinner break in between the shoot. It was very hard for all of us. Sounak who has written the script and screenplay and Adrija also have worked equally hard in the film. It was a joint team effort.

Since this is a thriller, you will not be revealing much about the character. However without revealing much, can you tell us something about the character?

Rajib Biswas- It is about a simple common Bengali man who comes back home after a day’s work at his office. How a telephone call changes his life is what the short film all about.

The earlier time you worked with Indranil, it was for a different production house. This time it is his production house. How was the experience of working with him?

Rajib Biswas- It was a homely atmosphere. We worked like a team. Indranil is a very meticulous director and he took six to seven shots. Only then was he convinced about the output of the scene. Apart from this, the atmosphere was cordial on the shooting set and it was a great experience.

When you do a work, you have some expectations around it. What are your expectations from this short film?

Rajib Biswas- The audience have not seen such work before and it will be an enjoyable experience for them. On Halloween, the audience will understand the Hello effect for sure!!
