After making critically acclaimed films like Pupa and Bilu Rakkhosh, director Indrasis Acharya’s next film Parcel is a great blend of thriller and dark comedy.

Rituparna Sengupta and Saswata Chatterjee play a couple in the film. They are both doctors by profession and they have a small daughter. The daughter studies in school and is also learning to play the violin. Rituparna’s character despite being a doctor does not practice and the reasons for that are revealed in the film. The woman starts receiving gifts from unknown people in parcels. Initially she does not think much about it but when the parcels come regularly she is scared. It looks like as if her past is revisiting her. What happens next?

The idea for this film came when at the birthday party of the director’s son a gift didn’t have the name of the sender. While discussing about a film with Rituparna, he narrated the incident and it is then they decided to make the film together.

The director cast Rituparna as the role demanded a heroine who was elegant and intellectual. And Rituparna Sengupta fit the bill perfectly.

A version of the film has been made by the makers and they are sending it to international film festivals. So far the response has been positive and this has further motivated the makers of Parcel.
