INDSPNCON 2019 is the 31^st Annual Conference of the Indian Society for Paediatric Neurosurgery. A press meet was organized to announce this annual conference.

The press meet was graced by Aparna Sen, Biman Banerjee, Honourbale Speaker of West Bengal Legislative Assembly, paediatric neurosurgeons Dr Sandip Chatterjee, Dr Kaushik Sil and others.

The aim of the medical conference is to spread awareness on brain and spine disorders in children.

Thirty international faculties from six continents along with British Paediatric Neurosurgical Group, the European Society of Paediatric Neurosurgery, the African Society of Paediatric Neurosurgery and the Brazilian Society of Paediatric Neurosurgery have joined hands to share their views about the welfare of children.

Birth defects in the spine are known as Spinal Bifida. This is a major challenge to new born and infants who either are born with a swelling in the spine or with a seeming normal spine which as they grow older results in weakness of their legs. This is one disorder that will be highlighted in details and light will be thrown on prenatal diagnosis and prevention.  The effect of adding folic acid to edible salt and cereals can reduce the incidence of the disorders. Brain tumours in children will also be highlighted. Hydrocephalus or water collection in the brain, infections of the brain and spinal cord, deformities of the spine will also be discussed.

Professors of neurosurgery from France, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom, Brazil, United States of America, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Australia, Ghana and other countries will present their experience at the conference.

Park Clinic and the Indian Society of Paediatric Neurosurgery have joined hands for this annual conference.

The three day affair will allow the young dynamic neurosurgeons to acquire knowledge about neurosurgery from stalwarts in this field.
