Actor Subrat Dutta was last seen in Hoichoi’s web-series Shobdo Jobdo. The Kolkata Mail correspondent Priyanka Dutta caught up with the talented actor about his new projects and future plans. Excerpts..
You work both in Kolkata and Mumbai. How do you manage the time?
Subrat Dutta- (Jokes) I can open a courier service and now carry parcels from one place to another. Jokes apart, for work, we have to travel a lot. Even for the Hindi films, I had to go out of Mumbai for the shoot. This is part and parcel of an actor’s life. Whenever I get a good role, I will rush towards it. For that I can go to Delhi, Mumbai anywhere.
Shobdo Jobdo is getting good reviews. How special was the web-series?
Subrat Dutta- The response that we got within 72 hours after the release of the web-series was phenomenal. It was a great team work and I want to thank my entire team for the great support. These things give me joy as an actor. This also increases the responsibility as there is a pressure to do the next job in a better way than I did the earlier one.
Social media has become so important in today’s times. How much effect has social media made on your life?
Subrat Dutta- I give importance to what other directors and actors say on the social media after watching my performance. There are many people who give different reviews. However if I start to read all the reviews, it will be problematic. Hence I pick and choose which ones to read.
Which web-series are you next working in?
Subrat Dutta- Headquarters Lalbazaar will be next releasing. Apart from that I have done web-series for Amazon Prime, Hotstar. I can’t recollect the names at the moment.
What is your next film that will be releasing?
Subrat Dutta- T for Taj Mahal, Banaras Vanilla, Josef Born In Grace are eyeing for release. I will be also doing a film named Taxidriver.
Guruji, a film by Baba Yadav is the next Bengali film that I will be doing. The film is produced by Surinder Films. I play a complicated character in the film. I will have to do some research to play the character.
You will also be directing a play soon.
Subrat Dutta- Yes, it is a Hindi play Husband-in-Law. The play is a comedy one. The husband comes to know that he will die. So he asks his wife to get married. The wife questions as to who will marry her. But when they find a man, the wife is married. Next the husband comes to know that he will not die. What happens next?
How do you spend time when you come to Kolkata?
Subrat Dutta- Apart from giving interviews, I spend time with my friends (Rajesh Sharma, Subrata Sen and others) or watch theatre.
We wish the actor all the best for his future endeavours!!
