Interview: Director Indrasis Acharya on His Soon To Release Film Parcel
Parcel which has gained much popularity during its screening at the various film festivals will finally be releasing on 13th March. The Kolkata Mail correspondent Priyanka Dutta caught up with the director Indrasis Acharya in a one to one conversation about the film. Excerpts..
How did you get the idea of the film Parcel?
Indrasis Acharya- Well, my son got a gift from an unknown person on his 7th birthday. The gift was a book. The book could be read by anyone. The gift was also packed differently. The name of the sender was not mentioned. This intrigued me, my son and everyone else. It is from there that I got the idea to make this film.
How was the experience of working with Saswata Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta?
Indrasis Acharya- It never felt that Apu da (Saswata Chatterjee) was acting and we were working. He was so spontaneous and lively. After his scenes were done, he used to come and chat with us. He mixed with us so easily.
Rituparna came on time during the shooting of Parcel. I know that she had the tendency to come late. But she came to the shoot on time and delivered a great performance. I feel both Apu da and Rituparna have given their best performances till date.
After receiving good appreciation in the festival circuit, how much expectation do you have from the film now that it is releasing in theatres?
Indrasis Acharya- If I was not hopeful, I would not have made the film. I am always hopeful about the films that I make. The film got a good response at the festivals and also bagged a major award at the recently concluded Kolkata International Film Festival. So, yes, I am very much hopeful that the film will do good. If the response is as good as I have got from the festival circuit, I will understand that I am going in the right direction.
We hope that Parcel receives ample love from the audience and good box office success.
