Director Indranil Banerjee has always been on the lookout for presenting new and unique productions to the audiences. The young director has now come up with a horror mini-series, which is a first of its kind in India titled 4 Shades of Leap. The Kolkata Mail correspondent Priyanka Dutta caught up with the director in an exclusive conversation about why he thought of coming up with this series. Excerpts..

Bengalis love thriller, horror stories and the chilly weather in Kolkata has made it the perfect time for your horror mini-series. Tell us something about the series.

Indranil Banerjee- This is a first of its kind to be made in India. The response that we have got till now is good. Horror stories have been made into films and web-series in India. But a mini-series on horror is a first in India. Unity Pictures have come up with this and we are proud of it. One can watch the episodes on the YouTube channel of Unity Pictures every Sunday.

How did you come up with the idea of developing this horror mini-series?

Indranil Banerjee- Previous year, Unity Pictures was obsessed with thrillers and so we came up with thriller presentations like One Night Stand and others. This year, we saw that horror stories have gained prominence and hence we thought of coming up with a horror presentation for the people. Therefore we came up with this mini horror series to spook the audience. This is not the typical horror series with ghosts jumping out of corners and scaring you. This is the type where the person sitting next to you can be a ghost and you will know that at a later stage.

How did you select the stories for the series?

Indranil Banerjee- We researched for the stories and picked the stories which we thought would be the perfect horror stories for the series. Some of you may have heard about the real incidents while many of you may not have heard about it.

There is a string of new actors and actresses in the film. How was the experience of shooting with them?

Indranil Banerjee– 80 percent of the cast consists of new individuals. We at Unity Pictures believe in bringing out new talents and giving them a platform. This is what we have done again and I am privileged to work with them.

Music has a great role to play in horror stories. Tell us about the music of 4 Shades of Leap.

Indranil Banerjee- After getting awards for One Night Stand, the music of which was composed by me, the responsibility has increased manifold. This time also I have kept in mind the needs of the stories and have created the music accordingly.

Will there be a season 2 of this series?

Indranil Banerjee- If the response is good, then surely we will be coming up with another season of the series.

We hope that the response is really good and Indranil and his team come up with another spine chilling mini horror series for the audience.
