Started at a very young age, Priya Chanda always dreamt about making an evolution in indian media,, so besides working as a full-time journalist, she also made her news portal to post more news about lifestyle, fashion, and entertainment. She also motivates young people to be fashion and travel influencers.

The Kolkata Mail correspondent Priyanka Dutta caught up with the young entrepreneur about her plans. Excerpts..

What inspired you to step into the world of media and start your news portal at such a young age?

Priya Chanda- Growing up, I noticed that many youth voices were either underrepresented or misrepresented in mainstream media. I’ve always believed that storytelling is a powerful tool for change, and I wanted to create a platform where young people could not only consume information but also contribute to it. That’s how the idea of launching my news portal came about — to be a voice, and also to give others a voice.

What challenges have you faced as a young female entrepreneur in media, and how have you overcome them?

Priya Chanda- As a woman, I’ve had to work twice as hard to prove my credibility — whether it was securing interviews, collaborating with larger networks, or even managing a team. But I’ve learned to stay grounded in my purpose, surround myself with people who believe in the vision, and never stop learning.

You’ve mentioned plans to launch a newspaper soon. What exactly is your newspaper about?

Priya Chanda- I think we can create platforms that empower young writers to engage with real-world issues — not just as bloggers or influencers, but as thoughtful, investigative storytellers. My upcoming newspaper will focus on grassroots reporting, creative columns, and youth opinion sections.

Recently, we have noticed that relationships with people are becoming too complicated and bringing turmoil into each other’s lives. What do you have to say about it?

Priya Chanda- I understand every person should be emotionally available and financially independent. People should stop making immature decisions that can hamper relationships with one another and sort it out compassionately, after all, love is the ultimate and valuable form of expression.
