“It Is Important To Be Professional”- N. R. Narayana Murthy
Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gautam Roychowdhury inaugurated the Convocation Ceremony 2023 of Techno India University.
At the convocation, 4,500 students were awarded their undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degrees, including students who completed their degrees during the COVID-19 pandemic time.
The Convocation took place at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre.
It was also graced by Shri. N. R. Narayana Murthy who was the Chief Guest and delivered the Convocation Speech.
In his speech, Mr. Murthy highlighted that the students must be professional and must always be open to acquiring new knowledge while practicing their profession. He also talked about his dream for a future in India. He wished that even the poorest kids would have access to education, nutrition, healthcare, shelter, and opportunity for the betterment of their lives.
The recipients of the Doctor of Letters degree were:
Sourav Ganguly, Ratan N. Tata, Kavita Krishnamurthy Subramaniam, Sushmita Sen, Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay, Dr. Apurba Ghosh, Dr. Tessy Thomas.
Speaking at the event, Kavita Krishnamurthy said “I am grateful that I have been considered for this degree. Whatever I have achieved in my life, is due to music. I am grateful and thankful to my teachers who have guided me to become a better singer. Without their blessing and guidance, I would not have been able to achieve this much”.
Also present on this august occasion from Techno India University was Co-Chancellor Smt. Manoshi Roychowdhury Vice Chancellor Dr. Goutam Sengupta, Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Samiran Chattopadhyay (ex JU), Registrar Prof. Mohit Chatterjee, Prof. Somprakash Bandopadhyay (Director, School of Management), Prof. Bidyut Baran Chaudhuri (ex-Prof, ISI), Dean of Research Prof. Amar Nath Mallick (ex-NIT, DGP) and all the principals of the colleges under the Techno India Group.
Eminent personalities present on the dais included L. Subramaniam (Pre-Eminent Violinist and Composer), Prof. Uday Bandyopadhyay (Director, Bose Institute), Prof. Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay (Director, ISI, Kolkata), Prof. Arvind Choubey (Director, NIT, Durgapur), Shri. Debashis Sen (Chairman, HIDCO) and Shri. Debidas Datta (Former Director, WBSEDCL). The presence of Major General H Dharmarajan, GOC HQ Bengal Sub Area, Kolkata, Shri. Abhijit Dasgupta, Commandant, Coast Guard, RHQ, and Commodore P Sasi Kumar, Naval Officer-in-Charge West Bengal.
At the Convocation Ceremony, university rank holders and gold medalists received their awards from their parents on stage in front of their professors. Degree certificates were handed over to students by the teachers.
