“It Is Vital To Make Next Generation Aware Of Traditions Of Ghazal”- Anup Jalota

“It is very important to create a new generation of listeners who can appreciate Ghazals. It is equally important that the next generation becomes aware of the traditions of Ghazal so that the rich cultural heritage can be passed on to them” said Padma Shri Anup Jalota.

Anup Jalota, Ashok Khosla, Padma Shri Dr. Soma Ghosh, and Prof Manoshi Roy Chowdhury graced the press conference of Rooh-e-Ghazal.

Rooh-e-Ghazal was a workshop concert organized by Techno India Group. The workshop was organized to make the new generation of students aware of the traditions of Ghazal singing. Performances by Anup Jalota, Ashok Khosla, and Dr. Soma Ghosh also were part of the workshop.

Rooh-e-Ghazal is a series of workshop concerts that is a project by Madhu Murchhana, a non-profit organization that works for promoting and propagating Indian arts, culture, and music. With this initiative, they will be reaching out to school and college students.

“I once saw a popular reality singing show where the judges and the participants were not aware that a particular song was a Ghazal and not a Thumri. After the participant sang the song, the judges praised the person. After seeing this, I felt it very essential to make the youngsters be aware of the rich cultural heritage” said Dr. Soma Ghosh.

More than 100 students participated in the workshop.

A series of workshop concerts will be conducted in Kolkata, Mumbai, Varanasi, and Delhi to promote Indian Musical heritage.
